Deputy Donald E. Charron
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office
Seminole, FL
Date of Death: February 17, 2015
Age: 30
Years of Service: 9
Duty Status: Active
Military Veteran: No
Deputy Charron was trained and certified both as a Road deputy and Detention Deputy. He chose to work as a Detention Deputy because he enjoyed his co-deputies as well as encouraging the inmates to avoid being repeat offenders. He was a proud member of the Corrections Response Team (CRT) and received the Distinguished Service Award for “Superior Service and Dedication”.
Deputy Charron could make anyone laugh hysterically within 10 seconds of meeting him and was a teacher and counselor at heart with a strong faith and love for God. He loved bringing joy and laughter and his generosity and compassion touched many people, all of whom dearly miss him. His last few years he suffered mostly in silence with extreme bouts of depression and sleeplessness with what we now believe was due to job related stress, combined with some undiagnosed medical conditions. He leaves behind his wife of 9 years, his parents, and his two younger sisters, as well as a nephew and niece that were born a little too late to meet him.
