After 19 years as police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, Detective Hernandez Fox died by suicide on October 11th, 2016.

“Nadine was loud, funny and always the center of party. Everyone knew where she was in a crowd. Everything she did was loud,” her husband Officer Tyler reminisced. Both Nadine and Tyler worked for the LAPD for many years. Nadine was the Mother of 3 children, 2 adult boys and a young teenage daughter. She was happiest though when she spent time with her children and surrounded by family during their Sunday brunches. Tyler’s young daughter filled one more space in Nadine’s heart, giving her one more beautiful reason to love life.

Nadine had a devoted husband and family that loved her beyond measure, she still struggled. The depths of her struggles were completely hidden to even her husband. The night before Nadine passed, she was rushed to the emergency room by her husband for having taken an excessive amount of a commonly prescribed anxiety medication; he feared it was an attempted suicide. The hospital brushed off the pill consumption and sent the couple on their way; 15 hours later when her husband would hear the gunshot from their bedroom.

Despite his strongest efforts, his wife Nadine, a Detective with Robbery and Homicide, the mother of 3, perished by her own hands.
