Eric was a 1998 graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy 162nd Basic Class. He worked for the Monticello Police Department from 1997 to 2001. On July 1, 2001, Eric joined the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. Eric became the Chief Deputy on August 10, 2004.

Eric was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a family man who loved coaching and watching his children in their sports events. Eric was a very proud father. He enjoyed grilling and cooking. He liked to golf, swim, and spend time in the hot tub. Eric loved serving and protecting the people of Delaware County. He loved his dog, Kia. Eric loved making people laugh and spending time with his friends. Above all else, Eric loved his family and cherished spending time with them.
