“Dad was a good man, very humble and unassuming. In his 36 years of service received two commissioner’s commendations all of his service medals (which unfortunately took our family some 3 years after he disappeared to fight for), dad was presented a Mayor’s Lantern Award by the Mayor of Mount Isa, Queensland for being instrumental in raising funds, grants and hands on being involved in the construction of the Cloncurry, Qld youth club. dad was predominantly a regional police officer, qualified further up but choosing to serve as a name and not a number to the community.”

His son, Steven, was an officer for 8 years but decided to leave because of the politics surrounding his fathers death. He is a part of an Australian national campaign to see memorial inclusion of police lost to PTSD related suicide and began a Facebook Group ‘Australia Police Memorial: Include Officers Lost to Suicide’
